A hero’s welcome for a man who murdered a four year old girl by smashing her head in with the base of his gun? Disgusting.

I know what you mean.
There is a point that can be reached where amnesties have to be declared and ‘fighters’ released, particularly in such drawn out and vicious conflicts as in and around Israel. It had to happen in Ireland and Rwanda so that true peace could be given a chance.
Problem is, I don’t think Palestine/Israel/Lebanon have reached that point where releasing poliitcal prisoners and criminals helps the peace so much as allows for political point scoring.
The Israeli government really needs to change many of its policies towards its neighbours and the rest of the world need to help facilitate a peaceful concord between them all before this sort of ‘forgive and forget’ prisoner release can do the sort of good it is intended to.
